IHSA COR Certified

Wessuc has obtained its Certificate of Recognition (COR™) through IHSA, an elite designation in health and safety compliance.

COR™ is aimed at driving positive workplace behaviour and practices that lead to improved safety performance. It is often required for contracts with both public- and private-sector construction projects in Ontario. Some municipalities expect their contractors to be registered with the COR™ program to qualify for bidding purposes. There are 19 elements of the COR™ audit tool including: hazard analysis, safe work practices, preventative maintenance, emergency preparedness, and workplace inspections.

Confined Space Training

Wessuc crews are specially trained to work in confined spaces and know how to identify the hazards involved. They plan out entry to every confined space and they are ready to react to unforeseen circumstances. Crews are outfitted with the proper PPE. Our extensive knowledge of these hazards, along with the tools required to address them, enable us to clean out challenging confined spaces in a safe and efficient manner.

Any space with restricted access is considered a confined space. From storage tanks to digesters, silos, sewers, wells, access shafts, and more, only trained personnel are permitted to enter these spaces.

The dangers of a confined space include:

Explosive gases

ISO 45001

Wessuc has achieved their ISO 45001:2018 accreditation. It demonstrates the company's commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by adhering to internationally recognized standards for occupational health and safety.

The standard establishes criteria for an OH&S policy, objectives, planning, implementation, operation, auditing and review. Key elements include leadership commitment, worker participation, hazard identification and risk assessment, legal and regulatory compliance, emergency planning, incident investigation and continual improvement.

Through the ISN, we have access to a wide variety of documentation and information to help us with workplace and environmental safety compliance. Their programs help us with tracking and logging of illness and injuries as well as hours, incidents, near misses or other site-specific information on a monthly basis. We also benefit from their experts’ reviews and updates on the latest in compliance processes and procedures.
